Less golf, more life

The UK’s thriving free party scene

Taking a break from golf this week, we bring you a feel-good article from DJ Mag on how “free parties” and the underground rave scene is alive and well in the UK. These are grassroots parties held after the clubs close for the night, usually somewhere deep in the middle of nowhere, where bassheads and newbies alike come together for music, community, and a sense of adventure.

If you’ve ever gone to an after-hours party until the sun comes up the next morning, you know the feeling. Read about how they dodge cops, spread the word, and the (organized) lack of rules in the story below.

Brand Highlight

There is something about getting older and realizing the value of a great bag. This could be a duffle for the gym, a bag for your suit, even a dop kit for your toothbrush. A poorly made bag for any of those uses can leave you frustrated or even ruin a vacation. A well-made bag on the other hand, dare we say it can spark joy?

Hudson Sulter is an American brand making a full range of products from shoe bags, to cooler bags, to golf bags and all with a classic look and made to last.

Our favorites are their Montauk Cooler Bag (below) for its versatility and classic design, along with their brand new Hudson Stand golf bag. Both are understated in look but designed to perform for years. If you’re in the market for an upgrade, whether for the travel or on the course, check them out HERE.

Nordstrom aims to become the Spotify of Fashion

The fashion retailer Nordstrom just announced the launch of a new digital platform to act more as a marketplace and less as a retailer. This means instead of going into their app and looking at clothes you’d buy from Nordstrom, you are now shown a broader scope of brands and items (with the help of AI, of course) in an effort to deliver a more customized experience for each shopper. The clothes you buy will be from that specific brand directly with Nordstrom taking a cut.

A platform model may seem like a significant change but by complimenting their brick and mortar, it seems like it really just gives them a shot to take a share of the revenue you already spend outside Nordstrom. If Amazon an Walmart can do it, it can’t be that dumb, right?

Eames & Globe Skateboards

The most well-known industrial design firm and one of the largest skateboard companies have teamed up for a limited edition run of skateboards cooler than anything you’ve seen. The Eames family continues to find genius and cool ways to keep the Eames design legacy alive and present. For a skateboard meant to hang from your office wall instead of your garage, see below.

Poshmark Find of the Week

We’re a sucker for a lightweight spring jacket. Especially one as comfortable as the Nano Puff AND in a blue on blue colorway. For $100 (likely lower if you haggle), you could be sitting fireside with this bad boy by the weekend. Link HERE.

What we’re listening to right now

Kentucky-based Amtrac’s latest single Interstate is one of those songs you could accidentally play on repeat and not realize it for 45 minutes, in the best way possible. Amtrac has the ability to transport you to another dimension while you stare at your Excel workbooks for hours at the office. He also brings the heat with his dance remixes like Found and One More. We’re big fans of Amtrac here at Clever HQ and we hope you will be soon too.
