Is it even a marathon if you're not on acid??

(Fill in the blank) is the new streetwear

The crew at SOTA released a tremendous piece on why running clubs have grown in popularity in recent years and are becoming a new hot spot for creatives. Democratising culture, local communities, and the opportunity to flex all combine for why “marathons are the new fashion week.”

Running clubs are certainly on the rise (see Diplo starting his club after running a marathon on acid), but in our view they are simply another one of our parent’s pastimes that are being taken over by young folks who are self-appointed as creatives. Golf is now cool for the alternative scene and they are infusing their fashion, pickleball was for old people and now alternative brands are cashing in, and now we have running. This is more of a reflection of younger society using fashion as a way to express themselves than their parents, running is just the latest to turn.

Brand Highlight

Just like running, boat shoes have long been seen as all the same and boring. Riomar has given your old boat shoes a boost and made them fun again.

Their key feature is the interchangeable bearing (the strap between top buckles) that allow you to customize and revive your pair when they need new new life.

The Halyard in Nubuck

Riomar is mainly known for their boat-shoe sole but they also make driving mocs and a clean-cut sneaker that are all dinner or office-ready. They have a full line of women’s shoes as well.

Our favorites are The Halyard (above) and The Hemingway (below).

Still recovering from the weekend while at your desk this morning? Take your ears back to Saturday night with the harder side of Sonny Fodera and his recent release. It’s not the quite the night club scene in Blade, but it’s pretty damn close.
