Short Shorts & Argentinian Cowboys

GQ profiles why men can’t stop wearing ‘slutty shorts’

We hate to enable clickbait articles like this one but you will see this one everywhere if you haven’t already. Chances are, if you’re reading and following Clever, you probably don’t wear short shorts. But, there’s a very good chance your shorts have gotten slightly over the last few years.

First it was frat-life and their preppy 5” shorts that made waves. Then it NBA players started to suddenly wear their shorts much shorter than before. And while all that happened, there’s a good chance your life situation has changed too. Many of you are dads, professionals, and golfers that simply have zero functional use for shorts that hit your knees. So while GQ writers and TikTok hypebeasts will point to an overly dramatic catalyst of why “all men” now wear tiny shorts, it’s just a convenient excuse for the typical cycles of mens fashion. We only give it a few years before trendsetters flip back to JNCOS.

Brand Highlight

Even if you still work from home a few days a week, there’s a good chance you’re wearing jeans or chinos more than the past few years. Athleisure dominated post-covid but dressing up is making a strong comeback.

Instead of wearing that old brown leather belt from your closet, do yourself a favor and checkout these awesome belts from La Matera.

Inspired by the Argentine countryside (sup Gauchos), La Matera makes belts and leather accessories with subtle personality and twist on your classic leather goods. Their woven belts pair beautifully with dark denim while not requiring you to go full needlepoint like you won it at a member-guest tournament.

Our favorites are The Paloma woven belt and they make a crispy, clean Gaucho Snapback in Navy (from Imperial).

With Father’s Day around the corner, start leaving hints about how you’ve always wanted to become an Argentinian cowboy.
