Dad Hacks

Huckberry just posted a 2 part article on their best dad hacks sourced from their employees and friends. As a dad of 2, I realize everyone wants to give you advice on how to parent but what works for someone else may not work for you. Kids are all different and they all suck….just kidding. But they do all demand different things, except snacks, every kid in the word demands snacks.

If you’re a dad, an upcoming dad, or just curious what dad life will be like if you decide to take that path, these dad hacks are a great resource. Our favorites? Buy cheap beer and good coffee. And kids are always a great excuse to get out of any commitment, just blame it on them 🙂 .

Brand Highlight - No Reception Club

Anyone who’s traveled with kids know how much it can suck without the right preparation (some think it just always sucks, regardless 🙂 ). You need a zillion snacks, room for diapers and wipes, and the hotel room turns into a warzone. It’s honestly crazy to think that no brand has truly tried to make family-travel-friendly luggage that doesn’t look like you bought it from buybuy BABY.

No Reception Club was founded by new parents who loved to travel but knew there were more parent-friendly options for luggage. They have backpacks, carry-ons, and cross-body bags to help packing and airplane travel more ergonomic and friendly for parents. Our favorite feature is on their Hideaway carry-on duffel whose inner lining completely detaches and can hang in a hotel closet, making storage and access way easier than diving into a black hole of a duffel or unpacking every piece into a hotel dresser.

The Hideaway’s removable liner

Parents need all the help they can get, especially new parents who don’t want to slow down their travel plans just because they decided to procreate. If you’re in the market for something to make your life easier, check them out.

WTF Happened to Bonnaroo??

What began as a jam band-leaning hippie fest is now a melting pot for those who like Post Malone, soundcloud rap, and anything Gen-Z. Some people think Bonnaroo’s glory days are behind it, others think change and evolution is a sign that music is healthy. As long as kids are paying to sleep in tents for a week in the middle of Tennessee and crows look like the picture above, we’d say music is healthy. Read more about this year’s lineup and the transition over the years below.

Shawn Stussy is back, but did he ever leave?

It’s reported that the founder and namesake of the 90’s streetwear brand left the company at the height of its popularity because of the shackles a monster company can force on an owner. He was a surfboard shaper and didn’t want to work 20 hour days just to not have time to spend doing the things he loved.

In a recent post, Shawn Stussy has announced his comeback. But while the Stussy brand itself has lost steam in his absence, it was never really gone (pretty sure you could still buy it at Urban Outfitters). There have also been numerous Stussy collaborations over the years. Regardless, the fashion world will be a better place with Shawn back at full throttle, even teasing a new collaboration with Land Rover here. We don’t even know what a Stussy x Land Rover would look like but we’ll pay extra to get on the waiting list right now.

Song of the Week

We honestly haven’t thought about Frank Ocean in years but Dachs sampled his voice from White Ferrari to produce a house remix that is understated and relaxed, dare we say ambient house - Dachs ‘WF’. It won’t get the party people on their feet, but it will put you in a good mood. Give it at least until the bass kick-in at the 1 min mark, enjoy 🙂 .
