Welcome to the Olympicths

Question.. when was the last time you bought some Olympic or Team USA apparel? Was it just recently for July 4th? Was it a shirt that read BACK 2 BACK WORLD WAR CHAMPS? Was it a retro Michael Jordan Dream Team jersey?

The Olympics are big business and related apparel is no different. Brands are jumping on board to make their mark and take their piece of the Olympic pie with Team USA collaborations. J Crew has swimsuits, Kim K’s Skims is making sleep shirts and shorts, and Ralph Lauren is designing the uniforms for the Opening and Closing ceremonies.

TLDR: get ready for a LOT more brands to compete for your wallet if they think you’re an Olympics fan.

Brand Highlight - Clearweather

In a world where most minimal sneakers are either Common Projects or imitations of Common Projects, it’s refreshing to see a unique perspective on shoes that doesn’t have to be loud or made to go viral on instagram.

Clearweather offers shoes, boots, and slides all with a hint of skateboarder vibes but without still work (well, most of them) for someone who hasn’t stepped on a skateboard in years.

Their flagship sneaker (pictured below) is the Qualifier and takes inspiration from 1970’s tennis shoes. While we wish we could pull of the green colorway (they call it Iceberg), the Bright White is the perfect Common Projects killer.

The Qualifier

Our sneaky favorite, however, is their BANTHA slide.

Clearweather has a slew of other footwear as well, check them out here.

Why you may have seen Team USA runners in all-black kits during qualifying.

Bandit Running is looking to support those Olympic athletes who don’t have massive apparel sponsors this games. Their aim is to help these athletes with short-term sponsorships, offering travel and cash for expenses plus a platform to advertise. Honestly an innovative win-win for both athletes and Bandit Running to get their name out there.

Dressing for your body type

The Modest Man wrote an interesting piece on the different variations of the male body and the best ways to dress around that (note: there are more shapes than you think). For example, endomorphs should choose suspenders over belts whenever possible.

Song of the Week

If you’ve been wondering what happened to Deadmau5 over the past few years, you are not alone. The TLDR is he probably has more tattoos, his mousehead probably has cooler technology, and he FINALLY made some good music again. We can’t pronounce his new single, but Quezacotl just released last week and it really does seem like the old, good Deadmau5 is back for the moment. It’s no vocals and nothing over the top, but it’s a good ride. For added effect, check out the 4k visualizer music video here.
