The Bermuda Triangle of The Holiday Season

Well, well, well…Aren’t we in an interesting time of year. The sweet spot between Christmas and New Year’s where nobody really knows what day it is and the kids are already driving you crazy from being out of school.

As the weather begins to cool down, and you relax (hopefully) in some comfy slippers you received for the holidays, here are a few stories and brands to keep your heart on the golf course, your feet on the slopes, or your mind on the coastline.

Hope you enjoy!

The Golfer’s Journal Presents: Bill & Tom’s Holiday Adventure

From your favorite magazine, The Golfer’s Journal, and their podcast hosted by Tom Coyne, this is a recent video of Tom and Bill’s 2 hour roadtrip from Bill’s house in Charleston, SC over to Old Barnwell in Aiken, SC.

It’s like Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, except they’re on their way to play golf and there’s only 1 comedian (and a golf writer). Just two guys with a tee time and the open road in front of them and the conversations that happen along the way.

They take a few pit stops and as you’d expect, it’s easy to listen to Bill Murray talk for hours.

A few notes:

  • It takes a while to get going

  • There is literally ZERO GOLF in this video, it starts when they leave Bill’s house and ends when they arrive to the course

  • These boys talk pretty slow, so OK to watch at 1.5x

  • Still worth the watch if you want to see Bill Murray at his most normal, just like one of us driving to play an exciting golf course with the boys!

Hit the Slopes Like You’re Shaun White

Magnetic MD Icon Goggles - White

WHITESPACE is a ski and snow brand founded by Shaun White and his brother Jesse. Since Shaun has retired from professional snowboarding, he dove headfirst into creating quality snowboard, gear, and apparel.

The Flying Tomato

The aesthetic reminds us of similar-sounding OFF WHITE, mixing minimal logos with simplistic yet bold colors. We found the products aren’t crazy expensive ($650 for a snowboard seems reasonable though the goggles above are $299).

The apparel is certainly more for the snowboard look than your classic backcountry skiers but if you’re looking for very clean snowboards or gear to go with it, check WHITESPACE below.

Brand Spotlight: Local Hoops

We stumbled upon an instagram ad with some very clean hats from a brand Local Hoops.

They’re focused on building the basketball community and telling relevant stories are the game, but also make some very clean basketball-inspired apparel.

We really like the hats:

Color = Butter

Plan and simple, merci beaucoup

We also like the understated hoodies, especially the lakers with the raised logo:

You can even create your custom basketball:

Looks like clipart but it’s from their online bball designer

Loca Hoops also has t-shirts, crewnecks, and basketball shorts to choose from.

If you love basketball but are looking for something you can’t find at an NBA game or fanatics.com, check them out.

A Cafe Racer for Dads

Beachman has taken your favorite hipster, vintage cafe racer (the motorcycle you wish you were cool enough to own) and made it attainable (and safer) for dads (aka guys in their 30s and 40s who don’t know sh*t about motorcycles and can’t afford to get seriously hurt). How did they do this, you might ask? They turned it into an e-bike that tops out at 45 mph.

Is this a serious move only for someone that lives on the California coast and wears Tecovas and a trucker jacke? Well, yes if you don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb.

But if you really don’t care and are looking for an e-bike that is MUCH cooler than your neighbor’s, give this a look.

The upcoming 2025 model will cost you $4,800 (currently on pre-order) but seems like a bargain to finally feel like the cool, motorcycle rider of your dreams. Take my credit card now.

What we’re listening to…

Our favorite Dutch duo is back with a feel good track that keeps your feet moving and shoulders bouncing. A perfect soundtrack to the wind blowing in your hair driving your Beachman e-bike down the 101.

🙏 Thank you! 🙏
